The content of Seeing the Everyday magazine comes primarily from our readers. We accept submissions for stories, biographies, or children's quotations. Please send all submissions in the body of an email to stories@seeingtheeveryday.com

desired length
There is no minimum length, and we ask that stories and biographies are no longer than
750 words.

photography
Seeing the Everyday magazine does not use professional models, and whenever possible, the actual author(s) are photographed for the story. For stories, please include with your submission a statement regarding your willingness to participate in a photo shoot for your printed story. Willingness to participate in a photo shoot will not influence the selection of stories for print.

payment amount
We appreciate the willingness of those who contribute to the purpose of helping others and sharing something worthwhile. To maintain this spirit of giving and sharing in the writing, monetary incentives are not offered.

stories
We ask that you reflect back to a prosaic moment where you remember your mother or father selflessly doing something for you: how kindness, understanding, hard work, sacrifice, and laughter made all the difference; how a small, almost overlooked effort or response influenced you for the better. We hope to hear how the experience shaped your own attitude and development. We encourage your writing to be personal and natural, as you would write a journal entry or recorded history. Though the quality of writing is important, stories are ultimately selected more for content and meaning. An example of a published story can be found here.

biographies
Our biographies highlight our readers' ancestors—individuals whose quiet, daily work and sacrifices influenced their own children and the generations to follow. For selected submissions, we will request images of your ancestor that will be used to prepare an illustration. An example of a published biography can be found here.

children's quotations
Each issue contains a section reflecting on the unexpected and wonderful words of children. A few examples can be found here.
